Civil Engineer position offered by ABB Inc. (Raleigh, NC). Coordinate and execute civil and structural engineering for air insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substation projects during the proposal, design and construction stages for substations in the 34.5kV-550kV range with an emphasis on project safety, cost, quality and reliability. Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost savings ideas, and value-added solutions. Assess and evaluate existing equipment, steel structures and foundations. Develop design criteria and document deliverables for the project. Perform calculations for steel structures and buildings and design grading and drainage.
Requirements:Requires a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in civil engineering or a related technical field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or 1 year of experience designing foundations with reinforced concrete and steel. In lieu of master’s degree and 1 year of experience, employer will accept a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated. Also requires 1 year of experience: reading geotechnical site surveys, earthworks, site grading and drainages; designing with structural analysis and design software (STAAD) or Structural Analysis Program (SAP2000); and designing with CAD.
