A research project funded by the Smart Cities Research Institute (SCRI) at American University of Sharjah (AUS), Sharjah, UAE, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a project related to smart water leak detection systems. Successful applicants for the positions will largely work independently under the supervision of a group of faculty members and jointly with a highly motivated multidisciplinary team with sustained funding. The research area of these positions is generally related to the development of a sensor and GIS, and a remote sensing-based water leak detection system.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:

1. PhD in Electrical Engineering or Geospatial Engineering or in other relevant disciplines.
2. Experienced in remote sensing applications.
3. Experienced in sensor development.
4. Experienced in geographic information systems.
5. Have well-developed analytical skills as well as excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
6. Be a self-starter and able to execute designated tasks accurately and within timing and budget constraints.
7. Used to working in a team—adopts a collaborative and open working ethos and demonstrates the ability to perform critical reviews.

Successful candidates are expected to conduct independent research with minimal supervision and high self-motivation, develop a prototype for the charging system, publish technical papers in international journals and present their research work at international conferences.

Position Details:
The appointment duration will be for a one-year period with a possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance based on progress measured in terms of research productivity and publications. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will be provided.
