Lead Scientist Materials

Description: Currently, we are seeking a Project Scientist with 2-5 years of industry experience as a material developer in the nonwovens industry to support development projects in the Global Nonwovens Sector in Roswell, Georgia.

Position Summary:

Scientists at Kimberly-Clark work as a member of a Research & Engineering (R&E) team to develop and implement new product, process, material or technology concepts. The scientist for this role will lead innovation and product development to commercialization activities to support Kimberly-Clark Partnership Products projects. Candidates should have several years of industry experience developing materials. Experience leading projects or commercializing prototypes is an addition desired skill, but not a requirement. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members, global customers, and manufacturing partners. The scientist reports to a Manager and receives direction in the form of specific project objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support material or process projects with a financial scope of up to $7 million from conception through commercialization.
  • Plan and carry out projects responsibility with assistance and direction from project leaders and management.
  • Communicate and document project plans and results to key customers.
  • Provide functional guidance in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of Nonwoven Fabrics/Laminates to meet unit project objectives.
  • Provide protection to technologies, processes, materials, and products through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective implementer of research principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve unit objectives. Identify complex technical issues to determine root cause, develop and recommend solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in a related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of applicable industry experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and background in commercialization projects in the Nonwovens field including product or technology understanding. A demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process or product related initiatives. Good understanding of elastics, intake, barrier, and laminate development.
  • Experience and expertise with Kimberly-Clark products, procedures, and processes.
  • Strong customer facing communication skills in technical and business settings are highly encouraged.
