The Office of Benefits has an opening for the position of Senior Medical Auditor , above grade 12. I. Basic Functions:
Conducts audits of hospital and medical care bills relative to members of the Health Insurance Plan (HIP) and the Medical Scheme of the National Social security Fund (NSSF). Authorizes coverage of hospital admissions as well as other outpatient services and prescriptions of medications. Performs daily rounds to check the progress of inpatient admissions. Ensures that medical necessity and documentation is appropriate for billed accounts. Reports audit discrepancies on regular basis to the designated individuals/committees and updates accounts. Develops a database for HIP patients. Manages the operational processes of the HIP Office including the supervision of work performed by fellow Auditors, Benefits Specialists and front liners. Is responsible for the evaluation of current work procedures and for recommending changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of followed procedures while in line with HIP rules and regulations.
II. Minimum Requirements:
a. MD degree with 5 years of medical audit experience.
b. Solid analytical. Interpersonal and problem solving skills.
c. Ability to identify patient’s needs through relationship building and active listening.
d. Ability to research, analyze, and develop solutions to address patient’s needs.
e. Strong written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills.
f. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with patients, co-workers, staff, and external contacts, and work effectively in a professional team environment.
g. Very good knowledge of English.
