In a lead capacity construct, test, and implement components of the Energy Management System (EMS) environment. Provide field support for all systems that enable business functions throughout Electric Grid Operations (EGO). Maintain a high degree of security, integrity, and continuity of business functions through EMSO support operations. Work with clients to analyze requirements and translate them into task that work toward meeting customer needs and expectations. Provide training as needed to lower level staff, and internal departments.

- Maintain systems in the production environment using sound enterprise best-practices in the areas of problem determination techniques and change control, leveraging the appropriate tools to analyze, identify, and resolve technical problems. - Act as a project management lead to implement systems including development of project scope, budget, and schedule. - Use of enterprise best-practice in design of LAN/WAN, Desktop, Server, Middleware, and Security Infrastructure environments, Ensure EMS/SCADA environments are of the highest system quality, reliability, and availability essential to avoid impact to revenue activities, customer satisfaction, and safety. Performs systems integration and interoperability, both internally and externally. Performs system hardware maintenance, including version/release lifecycle management and patching. Participate in Disaster Recovery support activities including technical design, planning, consultation, and testing. Contributes to the development and recommendation of standard operating procedures and guidelines in support of NERC CIP. Responsible for performing duties in compliance with NERC CIP guidelines.

External Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in information systems, information technology or computer science or equivalent years of experience/training.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years related professional experience, including at least 3 years of experience associated with Operational or SCADA systems. Senior level experience in computer and communications technology. Specific technical experience should include experience with server, desktop, network and virtual computing hardware, domain and configuration management administration reflecting an area of specialization that includes one or more of the following: Distributed Computing; including Linux, AIX or Wintel server; Juniper Networks; Active Directory, Computing Infrastructure Platform Services (DNS, VPN,NFS, SAN, NAS, Terminal Services), SCADA systems; Cyber security.
  • Skills in verbal and written communications, with the ability to convey highly complex technical concepts in business terms to technical and non-technical audiences are highly desirable along with strong analytical, critical-thinking, and conceptual skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; possess ability to work well on cross-functional project teams.
  • Ability to identify issues, analyzes data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Strong technical abilities in one or more of the following technologies: MS Windows Operating System, AIX Operating System, Linux Operating System, Storage Virtualization, Active Directory
  • Possess good project management and organizational skills.
  • Possess initiative, decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.

This position is typically located in an indoor office area. May require working extended shifts when power or computer system conditions dictate. Periodically requires responding to 7x24 callouts. Needs to move around the office area to communicate with co-workers and assist others. This position is in a fast-paced and/or stressful environment, particularly during system emergencies.
