Position Summary

This position will coordinate and oversee all aspects of laboratory course preparation for the BLD Program. The successful candidate will train personnel and oversee adherence to safety requirements for all classroom experiments. This person will maintain health and safety standards in BLD teaching laboratories to ensure compliance with University, State and Federal regulations. The lab coordinator will order all laboratory supplies and maintain a laboratory supply inventory for the Program. This individual will provide supervision for student laboratory employees, assist BLD faculty as needed in planning, developing, producing and documenting experiments and demonstrations in supporting laboratory classroom instruction. This person will have the ability to work as a member of an instructional team in a fast paced teaching environment.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Biological Science or a field related to the department of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the preparation of chemicals and media, handling of live and preserved biological specimens, writing and editing reports, working with electrical/mechanical equipment, supervising/ training and a knowledge of safety procedures and computers; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
