Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.scionnonprofitstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct a search for a Graphic Designer on behalf of our client, an international nonprofit organization that aims to improve children’s health, education and overall well-being in Oakland, CA.

This is a part-time (1 day/week), contract position.

Overview

The Graphic Designer will assist by strengthening the brand and marketing communications for the organization with digital campaigns, research reports, social media presence, ongoing website content management and design of digital and print media. This role will report directly to the VP of Communications.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage all content and design aspects of the organization’s website and update the information to reflect the organization’s current activities and efforts
  • Develop and execute compelling campaigns that drive participation with the organization’s mission, including but not limited to, email, website and social media platforms
  • Provide ongoing support for internal clients by editing, producing and reformatting their written work for digital and/or print media
  • Edit, design and produce engaging briefs and reports covering issues undermining children’s well-being (e.g., young children’s lack of access to early learning opportunities) and proposed solutions
  • Assist with development, information systems and press outreach when needed
  • High flexibility and willingness to take on a wide range of other writing, design and production projects
Qualifications, Experience & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or training in related field (e.g., digital design, graphic design, advertising)
  • Minimum 3 years of graphic design/production experience at an agency, corporation or other nonprofit organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Mastery of Adobe’s Creative Suite for digital/print production; specifically Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experience with MailChimp is required
  • Strong proficiency with HTML and experience with design and management of ongoing website content updates
  • Proficiency in or demonstrated willingness to learn Expression Engine and Convio
  • Must have prepared portfolio of produced work that demonstrates writing, digital/print design and production skills
  • Exceptional project and client management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
Compensation

$25-35/hour, DOE
