The Civil Engineering Department at Case Western Reserve University is inviting applicants for a faculty position in structural engineering. It is expected that the position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor. However, outstanding candidates may be considered for higher rank.

Candidates must hold BS and PhD (or D.Eng.) degrees in civil engineering or a closely-related field and should have or be qualified to obtain a professional engineer license.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, participate in service activities, and develop a funded research program. The Department is seeking candidates with expertise and interest in the areas of structural mechanics and civil engineering materials. Candidates are particularly sought with experience applying experimental testing and computational techniques in research.

The department recently expanded the structural engineering laboratory capabilities to include a 2400 sq. ft. strong floor space with 28 ft tall L-shaped strong wall, four uni-directional shake tables, various hydraulic actuators with force capacity of 22 kip and 55 kip, and a four channel MTS FlexTest 60 controller.
