PeopleNet, a company of Trimble, is recruiting for aProject Engineer.

Summary

The Solutions Design Project Engineer will be responsible for the coordination, testing, implementation, documentation, and completion of specific Solutions Design projects, ensuring consistency with statement of work. The selected candidate will work with the Solutions Design Manager of Project Engineering to ensure customer satisfaction with PeopleNet and the application(s) developed.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project
  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises as outlined in a Statement of Work
  • Author Change Request documents to record changes from the original SOW
  • Monitor live vehicle performance on customer’s accounts
  • Maintain and update project progress documentation
  • Lead weekly project calls with customers and PeopleNet resources
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors
  • Prepares for engagement reviews and project testing procedures
  • Management of multiple concurrent project with varying degree of complexities
  • On occasion, travel to customer location(s) for implementation of code and provide training to the customer
  • Perform quality assurance on newly created custom solutions as per the statement of work or change request requirements
  • Lead the customer through the project’s user acceptance testing, including researching software defects
  • Assists with testing of the developed product as needed
  • Documents architecture, functionality and any other project specific data points, in an effort to train support and quality assurance representatives on the Tailored Solutions, solutions
Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or management, or equivalent technical experience
  • 2+ yrs. customer service/technical experience in a software product environment/transportation industry
  • Demonstrated ability to generate basic SQL statements
  • Familiarity with SDLC, principles and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations to conclusion and satisfaction
  • Highly organized and demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful in solving challenging project blockers
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% in North America
Preferred Skills

  • Previous PeopleNet experience
  • Previous experience with PHP/Linux &/or XML
  • Familiarity with operational needs of the trucking industry
  • Project Management experience managing multiple, concurrent projects
  • Strong focus on details and accuracy
  • Previous technical and user documentation authoring experience
  • Results oriented, organized and self-motivated
