Summary:
The Department of Construction Technologies (CT) at Utah Valley University (UVU) is seeking applicants for a construction management tenure-track faculty position. Faculty at UVU are required to primarily teach, pursue scholarly endeavors, and contribute service to their discipline and the University. Faculty members are also required to advise students and to interact with local businesses/industries related to their discipline. Teaching assignments will be from a wide range of Construction Management topics. Faculty are expected to have current professional knowledge of the construction management and related fields in the United States.
Required Qualifications:
· 5 years of commercial construction management experience in the United States.
· Graduate degree from an accredited institution in construction, engineering, or related field with relevant certifications and experience (5 yrs.) OR Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
· Knowledge and skills in current theories, strategies, and techniques in construction project management.
· Extensive building code knowledge
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in the areas of:
· Contracts-Scope of Work, Bonds, Employment, etc.
· Project Management Controls
· Estimating and Scheduling and current associated software
· Skills in communication, proposals, problem solving and decision-making
· Skills in presentation of course materials and learning experiences
· Skills in teaching subjects related to all sectors of construction industry
· Ability to work with student organizations and manage events
· Ability to work with the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing and dynamic institution
· Ability to work well with other programs and/or departments and industry professionals
Licenses/Certifications:
Eligible and willing to pursue faculty development opportunities for further development (conference attendance, certifications in construction related specialties). The position also requires participation in activities dealing with construction associations (Beavers, ACI, NAHB, ASC, etc.)
