Our mission is to transform healthcare delivery and redesign patient care, exploiting appropriate technology to educate, motivate, measure, manage, and report – all to ease the patient’s journey, amplify the clinician’s impact, and speed recovery. We believe that by doing this well, we can better manage critical resources, improve clinical outcomes and delight patients and clinicians. Our core product, VERA™ is an FDA cleared interactive software that detects motion and remotely monitors the effectiveness of prescribed physical therapy. It brings the guidance of a physical therapist into the home to coach, guide, and motivate patients through their exercise program and gives clinicians tools to remotely monitor patient progress beyond the traditional in-clinic setting. VERA fills the gaps in the care continuum by enriching the patient and clinician connection and enhancing patient engagement, accountability, and dedication to recovery.

About the Role:

The Human Kinematics Engineer is responsible for developing complex models for human motion with the ability to implement products based on those models.

Your Contribution:

  • Develops systems to capture human motion data.

  • Develops mathematical descriptions of human motion modeled as kinematic chains.

  • Develops tools and techniques for analysis of data to verify models.

  • Develops formalisms for motion description usable in software systems for defining, tracking and analyzing human motion.

  • Develops, and reduces to practice, algorithms for tracking and analyzing human motion.

  • Works with engineering team to develop products that use the developed models and algorithms.

  • Works with non-engineering teams to design and implement studies required to establish operating parameters and performance of products in a medical setting.

Your Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with a strong background in kinematics (e.g. in robotics). PhD preferred.

  • Exhibited experience in open and closed chain kinematics. Any experience with human kinesiology or biomechanics will be considered a plus.

  • Highly analytical with the ability to translate complex algorithms to high performance, accurate and robust software implementations.

  • Strong programming ability in any modern language.

  • Strong ability to communicate scientific and engineering ideas clearly.

  • Ability to set up computer integrated systems. Familiarity with motion capture technology will be considered a plus as will familiarity with 3D sensors.

  • Ability to work well with technical and non-technical teams. Any experience in medical products will be considered a plus.

Education:

Requires Master’s degree (in Mechanical Engineering or related field) or equivalent, and 5 years of related experience.

Equivalent Experience/Education:

Master’s Degree and 5 years of experience

PhD and 2 years of experience
