JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction and guidance of the Medical Director, the Bilingual Psychologist is responsible for counseling individuals, couples, families and groups at Santa Rosa Community Health Centers.

SPECIFIC TASKS/DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Works closely with primary care providers to assess patient needs and develop appropriate support and/or interventions. Behavioral services include but are not limited to: individual therapy, behavioral health education, support groups, information on other community resources and linkages to other resources.
  • Provides on-call services, including warm-handoffs, consultation, and brief screenings.
  • Provides case management support as necessary to ensure that client’s medical, mental health and social service needs are being addressed and met.
  • Provides behavioral health consultation to primary care providers, family medicine residents and medical support staff.
  • Works with medical staff to manage crisis situations.
  • Assists Mental Health Manager in the development and delivery of trainings on behavioral health topics for medical and support staff.
  • Completes client billing forms as appropriate for the client’s medical coverage.
  • Completes and maintains client records that meet applicable legal and ethical standards and the requirements of SRCHC.
  • Maintains high ethical standards, especially confidentiality, as required by SCHC, the profession, state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in applicable SRCHC quality assurance procedures.
  • Attends mental health team meetings, relevant agency meetings, and supervision as directed.
  • Seeks clinical and administrative supervision as needed.
  • Maintains standards of confidentiality. Signed release of information should be maintained with the client’s file.
  • Maintains records on all client contacts that meet minimum legal and ethical standards. This shall include initial assessment, DSM IV diagnosis, treatment plan and goals, contact notes and disposition planning.
  • Provides clinical supervision to Psychological Assistants and other staff as directed by the Mental Health Manager.
  • Maintains ethical standards of Social Work or Psychology profession.
  • Attends relevant agency meetings.
  • Participates in ongoing training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Ph.D., Psy.D., LCSW or equivalent in Clinical Psychology with a valid, unrestricted California license.
  • Bilingual- Spanish Preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years post-license experience is preferred with child and adolescent treatment.
  • Experience working in a primary care medical facility.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with all tasks on the most current Psychologist competency list.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to report any incident that is unusual or incompatible with accepted clinic procedures.

  • Complies with HIPAA policies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to be sensitive with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
