The Office of the Corporate Controller is seeking a business/finance professional with a strong background in fiscal management and analysis to fill a Financial Officer 2 position. This position will report directly to the Office of the Corporate Controller, with a secondary reporting line to the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education (UE). The Financial Officer will lead the UE Finance Team that includes representatives from the 19 UE units that encompass the Administrative Area. The position will provide input on implementation of human resource objectives and initiatives of the Human Resource Strategic Partner and the Office of Human Resources. The position will act as an adviser to all Associate and Assistant Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers in Undergraduate Education, offering strategic insight within the unit regarding special projects and life cycling planning. This position will contribute to key areas including: strategic planning, finance/budget management, human resources planning, and in general, representing Undergraduate Education as appropriate to the broader University community. Responsibilities include all general financial management, budgeting, policy and procedure interpretation, guidance on compliance, oversight of financial systems and related approvals, assistance with the general salary increase process, execution of year-end close procedures, and coordination of internal audits and risk assessments. The position will work with the Undergraduate Education leadership on development and monitoring of the overall unit budget (as well as individual departmental and special project budgets) to ensure planned resources are available to meet strategic objectives and to support and enhance decision making, and perform other duties as assigned. The position will serve as the unit Financial Officer with responsibility for representing the Corporate Controller, perform duties as required for this role and, along with the unit leadership, be accountable for sound financial management of the unit. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge in financial and budget management, administration, and strategic planning, including general knowledge of human resources and other administrative functions. The position requires a high degree of self-direction, strong leadership skills, ability to lead and manage teams, dedication to continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to inclusionary practices which support diversity throughout the University. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills are required, as well as the ability to identify and appropriately address complex problems, prepare and deliver training, and engage in diplomatic communication crossing multiple functional areas ranging from policy/procedural issues to risk/legal matters and negotiations. Experience and proficiency in the use of database applications and business intelligence software for creating and developing reports and analyses is highly desired. Due to the financial or fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
