The University of Central Florida (UCF) is dedicated to increasing the prominence of its Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering Department (CECE) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). Applications are invited for two tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor rank with an anticipated starting date of August 2018. The CECE Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering. The undergraduate degree is ABET-accredited. CECE is also home of the Center for Advanced Transportation Systems Simulation (CATSS). This center was established in 1998 and over the last seventeen years has attracted more than $25 million in sponsored research related to traffic operations, traffic safety, human-centered simulation, and ITS deployments. CATSS is a member of four University Transportation Centers’ consortium that includes the National Center for Transportation Systems Productivity and Management (NCTSPM) at Georgia Tech, the Southeastern Transportation Center (STC) at the University of Tennessee, the SaferSim Center at the University of Iowa, and the Electric Vehicle Transportation Center (EVTC) under the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) at UCF. Position Minimum Qualifications: Preferences: Candidates with expertise in human-centered simulation, connected vehicles/autonomous vehicle applications, Smart Cities, freight transportation logistics, infrastructure and transportation policies, transportation economics, infrastructure engineering and management, and adaptive traffic signals’ control and technologies. Applicants will have either demonstrated, or shown a clear potential for, creative and independent research that would lead to strong extramurally-funded research and national/international recognition. Preference will be given to those who have a Professional Engineering license (P.E.), or who are able and willing to become registered.
