JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Job Function

Creative Network is the corporate in-house ad agency. The primary function is to provide leadership to the Corporation in marketing, communication, products and services. These programs include the development of marketing campaign strategies, product launch materials, communication media for upper management meetings, audio-video production and web-based products.

§ Requires both creative and business expertise to develop strategic positioning that provides a competitive advantage and innovative communication solutions both locally and worldwide. The incumbent works with very broad discretion, serving as the technical expert on general design and operational matters; utilizing superior communication, negotiation and leaderships skills to support the overall mission and vision for Creative Network and Abbott.

§ Recognized expert in Corporate Brand; oversees the client implementation of corporate Brand in all divisions, and assists in the education and training across AS. Additionally, ensures team compliance with corporate and divisional procedures and policies such as: ISO, Corporate Records, Corporate Purchasing, 21CRF 11, music and photo licenses.

§ The Creative Network is responsible for recovery of over $9 million in creative services yearly. The manager must establish formal department responsibilities while continually assessing the overall operating model, opportunities for cost savings, process improvements,

organizational structure and individual roles for the department.

Core Job Responsibilities

§ As a contributor to the leadership team, understands the organization's vision, goals and strategies. Aligns department priorities with the organizations priorities, determines critical success factors, and evaluates and pursues initiatives that sustain growth and provides a competitive advantage.

§ Has divisional operational authority for graphic design, quality and brand.

§ Oversees, directs and evaluates the brand execution in various applications to Creative Network employees; supporting all divisional internal clients. In cooperation with the Corporate Marketing group, provides expert identity/creative guidance; monitors, supports and enforces Abbott brand standards while addressing areas of need and opportunity.

§ Stimulates creativity and innovation (direct and indirect staff including outside resources; illustrators, designers, proofreaders, creative directors, etc) in the development and execution of project plans, timelines and budgets.

§ Implements and maintains the effectiveness of the Creative Network’s quality systems by determining levels and other resources required to provide a cost effective, compliant, high quality service.

§ Establishes and maintains high-quality relationships with all levels across the company and with external partners.

§ To collaborate on solutions, must have a strong understanding of industry trends and legal/regulatory needs in relation to emerging technologies in design and communications.

§ Responsible for all aspects of people leadership; setting expectations, coaching, counseling, developing, evaluating, providing feedback, hiring, discipline and separations. Determines necessary mix of skill set and confronts and deals with employees issues in a constructive and timely manner.

§ Manages divisional policies and guidelines keeping all files current and within ISO standards and Abbott compliance

Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) in Visual Communications, Graphic Arts or Advertising is required.

Minimum Experience / Training Required

Leadership/Management experience - 5 years

Graphic Design/ Art Direction or Corporate Communications Management - 5 years

Advertising Agency or related experience 5 years Industry experience with Graphic Design - 5 years Project Management – 3 years

Total combined years of experience 15 years
