The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. The Manufacturing Engineer will interface with the Engineering team in coordinating the release of new products. Additionally, will interface with the Production Floor, Quality Assurance, Service, Purchasing, Planning, Cost Accounting, Suppliers, and customers to resolve technical and procedural issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and composes Engineering Change Requests/Notices to document all changes to bills of materials, production processes, tools or parts as required.
  • Trains production personnel and evaluates their performance in following procedures. Creates clear manufacturing and quality instruction procedures for production tasks.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves production line problems in a timely manner based on the production and quality plans.
  • Develops and implements production line layouts and techniques to increase productivity, reduce inventory and improve product quality.
  • Determines tool, fixture and equipment needs for in-process use, sourcing or designing as required to improve the manufacturing process or product yields.
  • Works with purchasing and design engineering to optimize supplier relationships.
  • Resolves issues with suppliers to ensure timely availability of quality parts.
  • Assists quality and purchasing in supplier audits and quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Uses thorough knowledge of Build of Material (BOM), Manufacturing Processing Instructions (MPI), Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) and New Product Introduction (NPI) to review and change processes etc. as required. Follows-up compliance and completeness for these and other standard processes.
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing and quality control operations.
  • Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • With minimal supervision, performs other tasks as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Minimum requirements:

· Education: Requires a BS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent (CS, EE, IE, ME).

· Experience: minimum of 5+ year’s experience as a manufacturing engineer.

· Strong experience in designing production processes and test processes for instruments.

· Working knowledge of manufacturing methods procedures and cost reduction techniques.

· Familiar with DFT, GMP and ISO 9001.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP Systems
