Position Summary

Oversees, coordinates, and executes research project operations and activities necessary to conducting the research and to meeting national, state, and funder standards and funding requirements including, but not limited to: Prepares data for analyses, coordinates analyses with statistician and participates in data analyses and interpretation of findings; develops, adapts and updates research procedures and reporting instruments; communicates with research partners and collaborators to coordinate meetings including use of distance technology and transportation; information management; facilitates and trouble-shoots research activities; oversees and reviews the work of research assistants; assists in preparing and editing reports, articles and manuscripts for public relations and publications; maintains records of experimental procedures and data accumulated; establishes and implements quality control procedures to ensure compliance with IRB and funding guidelines; assists in the design and implementation of computer systems including use of an optical scanner, Remark system, Nvivo, and platforms to support a website, distance learning and a personal care aide registry; assists with establishing a website and branding; communicates with vendors, purchasing and others to obtain and organize supplies, equipment, and materials for experimental research studies; performs duties normally associated with a Research Assistant II in order to complete research projects.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or related science field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing research projects and laboratory operations, operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment, performing specialized and difficult analytical and research techniques, and designing research experiments in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with personal care aide workforce development issues and prior projects upon which this project is built such as Building Training, Building Quality and Putting Evidence Into Practice; community-based instruction/teaching; knowledge of terminology related to adult learner teaching and person-centered care; strong organizational skills; positive attitude; proven track record of strong attention to detail; flexibility to accommodate changes in the research environment; ability to multi-task; self-motivated requiring minimum supervision; ability to work in a team environment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential for working with community-based partners; knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, ability to use e-mail and the Internet.

Four-year college degree program in a related field and involving program and research development and operations management; knowledge and experience should pertain to aging, gerontology, adult and lifelong learning, public policy, training/education and advocacy; knowledge of and experience with community-based instruction/teaching, including handling continuing education credit requirements is preferred; knowledge of terminology related to aging, the long-term care system, adult learner teaching and person-centered care; experience with optical scanning and related software.
