Position Summary

Applications are invited for a Research Associate-Fixed term (postdoc) position in the research laboratory of Dr. Caroline Szczepanski, at Michigan State University, within the Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science. The research in the Szczepanski lab focuses on the development of bio-inspired materials to address challenges in sustainability, health, and the environment. We are seeking a highly-motivated post-doctoral research associate to lead projects focused on the development of advanced coating materials containing bio-derived and bio-sourced compounds.

This position is initially for one year, starting as early as June 15, 2020, and is renewable annually based on performance and the availability of funding.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Engineering field, Materials Science

Minimum Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in an engineering or materials science-related field.
  • Experience in polymer science and polymer engineering.
  • Strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Strong experimental skills in materials characterization.
