Responsibilities:
Education: BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering and current PE registration in a US state or territory are required. Must be able to obtain PE registration in multiple states through reciprocity, PE registration in Illinois within four months of employment is required. LEED-AP accreditation is a plus; accreditation as a LEED AP – BD+C within one year of employment is required.
Requirements: minimum of 8-12 years experience in mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) design, related energy design and mechanical project management.
Engineering knowledge, skills and experience should include familiarity with all applicable HVAC, plumbing and fire protection codes, energy code knowledge and design impact assessment, interdisciplinary coordination, LEED credit applications as they apply to mechanical design, specification organization and writing, and engineering economics proficiency. The candidate needs a high level of communication skills including excellent composition and writing skills, demonstrable technical report writing experience, quick communication of design concepts through sketches/diagrams.
Proficiency in Word, Excel and design load calculation and energy modeling programs. Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design using 3D design software such as AutoCAD MEP or Revit desired. Additional proficiencies in PowerPoint, AutoCAD, CAD data models, and computational fluid dynamic modeling are a plus.
