Facilities Services. The Mechanical Engineer oversees design aspects of new construction projects and renovations while maintaining responsibility for final specifications, design drawings, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts.
Essential Functions
• Provides engineering design and consultation on all mechanical systems for Facilities Planning, Design & Construction.
• Serves as a project manager on comprehensive engineering design projects to include but not limited to: production of bid documents, writing and typing memos, letters, review and approval of submittals, addenda and change orders.
• Evaluates compliance with project and engineering standards.
• Reviews mechanical design specifications, shop drawings, inspection of systems and monitoring of all assigned design projects.
• Ensures that all mechanical systems are installed according to established specifications and that they are operating correctly.
• Supervises the preparation of mechanical plans.
• Reviews completed plans and specifications designed by outside architects/engineers and submits written comments for consideration.

Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases and successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.
Preferred Experience
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Mechanical Engineering including but not limited to large chillers, duct systems, steam and hot water systems and controls, plumbing systems and engineering economics; knowledge of AutoCad and REVIT design software; familiarity with HVAC flow/balancing calculations. |
