Summary:

Under the direction of the course Instructor and/or department Director, evaluates correspondence, assignments, and documents, and assesses materials prepared by Distance Education students in freshman composition (1010 & 2010) classes. Provides grades of student work in combination with revision-oriented feedback in marginal and terminal comments. Assesses student’s use of the MLA and APA style guides. May tutor individual or small groups of students as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in related major or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, Learning Management System, and presentation software.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication to provide concrete and effective feedback.
  • Experience providing grades of student work in combination with revision-oriented feedback in marginal and terminal comments.
  • Knowledge of, and proficiency with, the standards and expectations of teaching freshman composition classes.
  • Proficiency with MLA and APA style guides.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, follow verbal and written instructions, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assess student work according to faculty-specific and general instructional standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.

Pay Range:

$11.00 - $14.00 DOE
