deciBel Research has an immediate opening for an experienced Software Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Description:
deciBel Research is seeking an application engineer with an emphasis on Microsoft Windows, web and database technologies to support implementation, operations, and maintenance of server based applications. Will provide support for a variety of hardware and software platforms in an Active Directory environment utilizing MS SQL Server 2008-2014 and Internet Information Service (IIS) 7.5-8.5, as well as other tools. Will resolve software conflicts, install and configure Windows 2008 and Windows 2012 application software, troubleshoot and resolve client-server and web application issues. Coordinate efforts with other IT Services crews and vendor support personnel to resolve Incident Requests, Problems, and Change Requests (familiarity with Remedy software and the CRQ process are desirable). Manage COTS, GOTS, and other developed software applications. Will interact with customers to gather requirements and ensure applications meet expectations. Also, will research new technologies, evaluate products, write processes and documentation. Other duties assigned as required. Must be able to work after hours to support maintenance and to provide on-call support.

Education Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT related discipline.

Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess 5+ years of experience in Information Technology with at least 3 years relevant work experience as a Windows Systems Engineer working with Windows OSs as well as Windows Active Directory. Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) 7.5 8.5) web servers to include certificates, CAC/PKI, NTFS file permissions, and user authentication methods. Experience deploying and managing web-based applications. Experience operating and managing MS SQL Server 2008 and 2014 databases for applications. Knowledgeable of the Security and Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for IIS, web servers and applications. Experience working with vendors to expedite equipment installations and repairs to ensure maximum uptime. Knowledge of LAN/WAN connectivity and related troubleshooting. Essential qualifications include: ability to quickly adapt to new situations, strong commitment to a team environment, willingness to learn new technologies, and ability to de-conflict requests/requirements, able to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures. Must possess a CompTIA Security+ certification or CISSP.

Special Skills Desired:
Experience with several of the following a plus: SQL Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, Virtualization technology (VMWare’s ESX), BMDS Asset Management (BAM), Project Server 2013, AtHoc software, Forefront Identity Management (FIM), Visual Studio, BMC Remedy,.NET, HTML, and Javascript. Experienced in O&M activities.
