The Accountant oversees daily accounting activities to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and the support of budget and forecast activities. This team member must be team oriented, proactive, and goal driven. This position requires independence and judgment to recognize and resolve problems within established policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review, prepare and post journal entries into the general ledger system
- Assist with day to day activities necessary for the month-end and year-end close process
- Assist with financial statement preparation and variance analysis
- Responsible for preparation, reconciliation and review of company fixed assets
- Assist in annual audits, special projects, system conversions/upgrades
- Create and review weekly, monthly-end, and quarterly business information management reporting
- Assist in revenue and expense forecasting
- Responsible for processing of semi-monthly in-house payroll and changes to payroll (W-4 changes, retro pay, direct deposit changes, deduction set ups and changes)
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting including generating 1099’s and W-2’s
- Responsible for reconciling corporate bank accounts and various other accounting duties
- Responsible for reviewing and processing accounts payable invoices
- Cross-train on a variety of tasks to act as backup to other members of the finance team
- Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with staff throughout the firm in a support capacity to assure compliance with internal and external accounting practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4-5 years of financial accounting experience in a project services environment
- Ability to work in an open office environment
- Self-starter and able to work independently
- Must demonstrate strong initiative and be able to maintain confidentiality
- Advanced Excel and Outlook skills required
- Experience in A/E/C or professional services industry is desirable
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision or equivalent project accounting ERP system a plus
- Demonstration of an ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment, and produce accurate and timely deliverables
