Motion Controls Robotics, located in Fremont, Ohio, is looking for a full time Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. Candidate must be a self-starter, have strong engineering & leadership skills, desire to work in a collaborative environment. A strong ability to design based on industry standards and customer requirements is needed. The position is responsible for providing a working concept and development of functional designs in 2D or 3D from a variety of electromechanical/pneumatic devices. The designs will be based on information provided by the sales department in the form of written descriptions, sketches of two dimensional drawings. The position also needs to design and build robotic integrated solutions for the manufacturing and material handling industry, design concepts, get approval to build, detail build package, purchase components, customer run-off, and manage the overall build process and complete manual for customer. Must possess a good attitude, good communication skills, safety conscience, and the ability to work well with others.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Break down a quoted system into its various sub systems and determine possible problem areas
Come up with creative solutions to complex functional challenges
Create working drawings for detailing
Create pneumatic of hydraulic circuits for system operation
Create a sequence of operation in conjunction with electrical/controls/robotics engineers
Work with detailers and drafters to produce a final print package for the shop
Resolve design/functional issues that arise during system setup and installation
Position requires some to moderate travel
Design concept derived from customer & Sales input
Tailor design to available time and budget
Create Inertia calculations for End of Arm Tools for mating robot
Risk studies for robotic cells
Develop a bill of materials for all purchased mechanical components
Enter all drawings to be released to shop through Encompix (ERP system)
Quote all purchased items prior to buying in Encompix and release purchase orders
Follow through with the build process and assist the shop with added direction
Provide a customer run off at the end of the build phase
Get pictures of the finished product before shipping
Prep and instruct the install crew for installation process at customer facility
Generate a 2D final drawing package for customer
Prepare owner’s manual for customer
Support the shop while a project is being built and assembled
Desired Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least three years of job-related experience
Previous shop floor, assembly or maintenance work experience
Very high mathematical skills, very high reasoning skills, high communication skills
Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience and interest in robotics and custom machine design and build preferred
