MMC Group is looking to hire a Sr. Manager IT for Hampton, VA. The primary role of this position is to serve as the lead manager for the software engineering staff within the client's IT Applications organization. This position serves as the practice leader for software engineers performing application design and software development related duties. The successful candidate serves as the resource manager to all software application engineers to maximize staff utilization and cross educate staff across projects to encourage employee growth and reduce delivery risk. S/he interacts with the delivery managers and other shared services managers to support delivery of quality of services to the business (Customer) and IT.

Job Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in the field of software engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience utilizing SDLC tools to include requirements development and management.
  • Project management skills and experience with staff resource management.
  • Software design and development skills using JAVA and .NET technologies.
  • Software integration skills for integrating custom, COTS and cloud applications into a complete technology solution.
  • Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
  • Facilitation skills, to lead requirements elicitation workshops.
  • Writing skills, to communicate information effectively to both business and technical staff.
  • Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
  • High degree of confidence and ability to influence others through strong communication skills.
  • 25% travel required.
  • Solid understanding of health systems preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of labor cost management preferred.
