The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking to hire a Human Resources Generalist. Reporting directly to the HR Strategic Partner for Ag Sciences, the successful candidate will provide joint support for approximately 2000 individuals in full-time and part-time faculty, staff, technical service, postdoctoral, and graduate appointments, as well as over 20,000 volunteers. The HR Consultant may develop, plan, and implement various HR programs including recruitment, hiring, and retention; compensation; employee/labor relations; professional development; rewards and recognition; compliance monitoring; and diversity initiatives. The successful candidate will also counsel employees and management on policies and procedures; represent the College on various initiatives and/or committees; initiate and/or respond to inquiries such as performance concerns; analyze data and prepare reports; review offer letters; coordinate and approve payroll transactions; and work with the Penn State Human Resources staff to implement new or continuing legal requirements or initiatives. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the financial office on a variety of matters including implementation of policies, position management, payroll transactions and salary increase planning and may coordinate/assist with academic processes such as tenure and promotion, sabbatical leave, post-tenure review, etc., as well as matters involving international faculty and visiting scholars. With Extension Offices in all 67 counties, travel throughout the state will be required as needs arise. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Microsoft Office experience required; familiarity with cloud-based technology solutions preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of broad concepts, policies and procedures related to human resources and possess an outstanding customer service orientation. In addition, it is important for the individual to insure and maintain confidentiality, be focused on attention to detail, and possess superior written and oral communication skills. The candidate must possess a commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity; the ability to work independently and cooperatively with various levels of administrators, faculty and staff; and have excellent judgment and organization skills.
