The Information Technology department seeks a User Experience Team Lead for defining and driving the user experience process end-to-end, including discovery, ideation, concepting, detailed design, prototypes and validation.
At a team level, he/she will work hand in hand with the applications team to deliver compelling and captivating user interfaces for the products and features defined by the product owner and delegated team.
They must work closely with the development team and product owner to ensure an elegant user experience (e.g., employee and student engagement and productivity)
They should be adept at reading and understanding user stories and requirements, and working with the rest of the team to problem solve and define solutions to issues.
Job Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
1. Engaging with end users on their requirements.
2. Designing interfaces.
3. Translating concepts into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
4. Facilitating the product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
5. Designing and deliver wireframes, user journeys, and mock-ups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
6. Identifying design problems and devise elegant solutions.
7. Making strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
8. Taking a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
9. Collaborating to establish consistent design patterns and engaging interactive experiences.
10. Coordinating with AUS Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing.
11. Providing consultancy services to AUS entities.
Qualifications, Experience, Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
2. Minimum of five years of professional experience in a related IT field.
3. Minimum of three years of experience in web design and development.
4. Expertise in the user centered design processes.
5. Experience in translating audience research and business requirements into effective experience design solutions.
6. Ability to produce user journeys, flow diagrams, wireframes, sitemaps, functional specifications, guidelines and client facing documentation.
7. Ability to visualize experiences through lo- and hi-fidelity sketches, storyboards and prototypes.
8. Expert user of a wide range of digital tools for conceptualizing, designing and prototyping, e.g., Adobe CS, Sketch, Envision, Principle.
9. Expertise in usability and accessibility including the ability to run usability testing sessions to evaluate designs and identify the needs of our users.
10. Knowledge and experience of information architecture.
11. Experience in working with multiple brands across a range of platforms.
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills:
1. Professional certification in user experience technology.
2. Three or more years of professional IT experience in higher education.
