Applications are invited for an exceptional candidate in the area of Hydrogeological Engineering in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, effective July 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant will receive a Probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The rank will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.

We seek an energetic and dynamic colleague who will be able to positively contribute to both the teaching and research efforts of the Department in the area of hydrogeological engineering.

For a probationary appointment, successful candidates will have completed a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering field, or a closely related discipline, demonstrate excellence or clear promise of excellence in research, including evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates independent research potential leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding.

For a tenured appointment, successful candidates will have completed a Ph.D. degree in the appropriate Engineering field, provide evidence of excellence in research and impact through publications in the highest quality journals, and have an established internationally-recognized, externally-funded research program, with evidence of interdisciplinary and industrial collaborations. An exceptional profile with respect to teaching and training of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels is also required.

Applicants with expertise in any area(s) within the broad field of applied hydrogeology will be considered, including: (i) contaminant fate and transport, (ii) subsurface remediation, (iii) sustainability of groundwater resources, (iii) groundwater-surface water interactions, (iv) innovative monitoring techniques for hydrogeological processes, and (v) numerical modeling of water quality in natural and engineered hydrogeological systems. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the Civil and Environmental Engineering program, participate in other educational and professional activities, and in the normal administrative activities of the Department, Faculty and University. The candidate should provide evidence of teaching at a university level in the areas relevant to the Department. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is required for this appointment.
