Responsibilities:

The Department of Bioengineering (BioE) at Northeastern University invites applications to fill a full-time non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position.

The main responsibility of the Assistant Teaching Professor faculty position is teaching. The annual course load is six courses. The Assistant Teaching Professor will also have the opportunity to participate in department, university, and professional service activities, as well as research activities.

Course assignments may be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Bioengineering department with primary emphasis on undergraduate bioengineering courses and related labs, as well as Capstone Design advising. Focus will be on Biomedical Devices and Signal and Image Processing.

The Assistant Teaching Professor is encouraged to initiate and undertake research and service activities, including, but not limited to advising undergraduate and graduate students, student recruiting, e-learning, educational research, publications, and presentations.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will develop course content and prepare lectures and other course delivery material, develop laboratory modules for Bioengineering courses. Perform service to the department, university, and the profession, and may conduct or assist on research projects. The Department establishes the key responsibilities for the position, including the breakdown of activities between teaching, research, and service.

The person in this faculty position reports to the Department Chair.

Qualifications:

PhD required in Bioengineering or related field, with B.S. preferred to be in Bioengineering or related discipline. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. A background in Biomedical Devices and Signal and Image Processing is also essential. Familiarity with experiential e-learning and the latest electronic teaching tools is desirable.
