Brooksource is looking for Junior Software Engineer to join our Fortune 100 healthcare client in Northern New Jersey. This person will assist in developing, supporting production and system design. This is a long-term position with unlimited growth potential at one of the largest companies in the United States. This programmer will be trained on multiple technologies and be mentored by senior level subject matter experts.

- Basic computer knowledge (Comp Sci degree).
- Object oriented programming language- Java preferably from school.
- Agile/Scrum knowledge. Learning about it in school is fine. Experience in an agile environment would be a huge plus.
- SDLC knowledge.
- Logic and understanding of algorithms and data processing (Comp Sci).
Technologies they will be learning:
- Middle tier technologies: Mule, Datapower. Middle tier Generally refers to the processing that takes place in an application server that sits between the user's machine and the database server.
- Spring Boot platform.
- Cobol, CICS, DB2, Mainframe technologies. If they happen to have any hands-on experience of these it would be a HUGE plus, but not needed.
- Needs to understand the syntax of Cobol code- how it works.
***Brooksource will provide 1-2 weeks of Mainframe online training prior to them starting. We will start after the offer is given and before the first week. Training will consist of entry level introductions to Mainframe technologies: Cobol, CICS, DB2.
Responsibilities:
- Onsite training shadowing a SME on manager’s team.
- They will be developing in Cobol and CICS and using DB2, and middletier technologies using XML and javascript. They will be supporting production and designing systems.
- They will be taking a LMS class software class that has brief summaries and tests when they start, provided by the client.
- They will be learning business and software systems, and prescription processing
- They will be using cutting edge software.***** This is not solely a Cobol development position, but they need to have a solid understanding of the mainframe because of our clients massive processing platform runs on the mainframe and they will be working with it.
- They will be learning and using open source tools, multiple platforms, and will become a SME in healthcare software development.
