SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Civil / Geotechnical Engineer to be based in our Johannesburg, South Africa office.

Reporting to the Discipline Leader, the appointed person will be expected (but not restricted) to do the following:

-Plan and conduct geotechnical site investigations in soil and rock;
-Critically review soil and rock laboratory, mapping and logging data;
-Perform analytical and numerical analyses including but not limited to limit equilibrium and finite element analyses;
-Compile technical reports, presentations, proposals, letters etc.;
-Work independently as well as on project teams, as and when required;
-Work across group disciplines, SRK branches as well as local / international travel and work, as and when required;
-Expected to train and mentor junior staff as required;
-Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours when required.
Essential Requirements:

The candidate must:

-Have a degree in Civil Engineering;
-Two years of experience in Geotechnical work (specific experience in Tropical Soils and / or Tunnelling and / or mining);
-A valid driver`s licence and highly competent at driving field vehicles.

This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects and may include international travel.
