Position Summary

Instructional responsibilities include teaching ENT 110 – Applied Entomology of Economic Plants (3 credits) for the Institute of Agricultural Technology during the Fall 2019 semester. The course will be delivered at Bay College, Escanaba, Michigan. ENT 110 contact hours will be 1-hour lecture, recitation, or discussion per week and 2 hours of lab per week (3 hours of total contact time per week) for 15 weeks of instruction.

The course will provide students with a basic understanding of Entomology. Topics that will cover are:

  1. Introduction to field diagnostics
  2. Basic insect biology and anatomy
  3. Basic Entomology/making an insect collection
  4. Injury symptoms on plants
  5. Insect classification and orders
  6. Integrated Pest Management
  7. Pesticides and pesticide safety
  8. Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification
  9. Beneficial Insects
  10. Insect Ecology

Required Degree

Masters -Entomology or Invertbrate Zoology

Desired Degree

Doctorate -Entomology

Minimum Requirements

(Instructor-Master's Degree) (Assistant Instructor-Bachelor's Degree) in Entomology in Invertebrate Zoology and/or Ecology with experience in the field of Entomology

Experience in the field of Entomology

Knowledge and skills to develop teach resources in Entomology

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

M.S. in Entomology or Ph.D. in Entomology

Experience in development and assessment of learning outcomes

Undergraduate teaching experience and a passion for teaching
