The position of Civil Designer includes the following:

· Assists other engineers in executing engineering tasks and works in accordance with established engineering practices and drafting protocols

· Produces a variety of project drawings including process flow diagrams (PFDs), system schematics, civil Plan & Profile drawings, road sections and isometrics as per engineer's markup or senior designer's direction. Interprets and carries out creative ideas proposed by other engineers or technologists.

· Prepares computer-generated engineering drawings according to established office/client standards and procedures

· Performs and meets all objectives, requirements, and design approaches outlined by various disciplines

· Designs components or portions of systems, and modifies existing designs to develop or improve them

· Reviews, corrects, and completes manual/computer drawings and ensures conformance with project specifications, scope of work, design parameters, codes, and industry practices

· Reviews vendor drawings and identifies and emphasizes details and specifications for different technical projects

Minimum Qualifications

· Proficiency with computer aided design and drafting (CADD) equipment

· Post-secondary education with a diploma in Drafting, CAD, Construction or Applied Sciences

· Proficiency with Microstation, Open Roads/In-Roads is required.

· Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.

· Demonstrated experience producing pipeline plan and profile drawings, civil site plans, and grading and drainage plans.

· 10-15 years of civil design work experience is required

· Work experience in an Engineering environment is preferred

· Good follow up skills with the ability to take initiative in completing tasks

· Ability to use judgment to solve problems based on guidelines and procedures

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism

· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Familiarity and understanding of engineering codes and standards

· Experience with working with City of San Diego CAD standards and other agencies is a plus
