Position Summary

The Digital Assets/Social Media Coordinator assists the College of Natural Science (NatSci) Communications Team in the development and execution of communications strategies, campaigns, digital and online assets, social media and other materials for the Dean’s Office, college departments and programs. This person monitors website analytics and social media interaction and interfaces with college units in digital assets/social media contexts; posts news releases, social media posts and/or related content; and schedules and/or conducts interviews for media-related deliverables (e.g., social media, podcasts, videos etc.). The position reports directly to the Digital Media Manager.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in internal communications; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Marketing or Public Relations
  • One year or more of related and progressively more responsibility or expansive work experience in digital media
  • Experience using the following social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube
  • Experience editing and publishing web content using a web content management system (experience with direct HTML editing and manipulation a plus)
  • Experience with creating, editing and publishing press releases and social media postings
  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets, database, Outlook email calendaring, and other application software (experience with Office 365 a plus)Experience using the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for photo manipulation and/or graphic creation
  • Experience with interviewing for content generation
  • Experience with scheduling logistics
  • Demonstrated people skills and positive attitude
  • Background or knowledge of the natural sciences is a plus
  • Experience and proficiency using Google analytics
