The primary objective of the Staff Accountant will be to provide general ledger, capital projects, and other accounting services for multiple, global entities. Prepare general journal entries and account reconciliations, reconciling general ledger to project costs in Oracle Projects. Assist with month-end close process. Prepare capital spending and budget reports for local and corporate users, as well as enforce Barrick policies regarding approvals and cost overruns. Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIABASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field /Master's degree and CPA cert preferred.
  • Two to five years’ experience in mining accounting functions preferred
  • Understanding of IFRS and financial analysis/reporting requirements; awareness of business law and general management principles required.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to be oranized, self-motivated, efficient, analytical, and to pay close attention to detail, while responding to multiple demands and priorities required.
  • Excellent team player with strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work with the North America Regional office, Toronto Corporate office, accounting / other departments, operating units, and other cross functional team; exceptional personal integrity, ethics, and trust required.
