The Opportunity
Zayed University’s College of Education (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) seeks energetic and innovative Teacher Education faculty able to contribute to the ongoing development of the UAE’s education system through teaching, research and engagement with UAE schools. Faculty will contribute to the preparation of graduates at Baccalaureate and Master’s levels who will become exemplary teachers, school administrators, and future leaders able to serve national and regional development in one of the world’s most dynamic countries. Successful candidates will also assist in the planning and implementation of teacher education, research and professional development programs that will contribute to the the development of the UAE.
The College, accredited by NCATE/CAEP, is currently in the process of expanding and deepening its existing Baccalaureate and Master’s Degree offerings, and in developing robust applied research and professional development programs directly relevant to schools in the UAE. The College has an Early Childhood Education Center on its Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, providing a research-based model for early childhood education that features bilingual language acquisition (English and Modern Standard Arabic), discovery and numeracy development, and parent education.

The Responsibilities
The College seeks Teacher Educators at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level with expertise in one of the following areas: Curriculum and Instruction, Education Studies, Early Childhood Education, Math Education, Science Education, English Language Education or Educational Psychology. The positions require that the successful applicants engage in scholarly research, contribute to course development, and offer service to the college and the university.

The Requirements
1. An earned Doctoral Degree in any of the following areas of specialization is required: Curriculum and Instruction, Education Studies, Early Childhood Education, Math Education, Science Education, English Language Education or Educational Psychology. Candidates should have a record of publications and a significant research agenda in evidence.
2. Candidates must be qualified and experienced in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Pedagogical expertise with young learners is preferred.
3. Experience in working with second language learners is a plus, and professional development experience in K-12 is valued.
4. Although not a specific requirement, particular consideration will be given to faculty who have experience in international or bilingual environments, or who can work effectively in both English and Arabic.
