Description:
A part-time research assistant position is available at FAFS to work in the Horticulture Laboratory at the department of agriculture.This position is for six months initially, with the possibility of extension to an additional three months depending on performance and fund availability.

This position will start on November 15, 2019, salary will be determined depending on qualifications, skills, and experiences. The project focuses on both fundamental and translational research involving diverse aspects pertaining to postharvest biology and horticulture biotechnology. The incumbent will be mainly involved in genetic diversity and phylogenetic analyses of several grapevine varieties, next-generation sequencing, data mining, and plant tissue culture. The incumbent will have ample opportunities to interact with others in the department of agriculture and be exposed to a wide range of experimental systems and methodologies that are important for research in agricultural biotechnology, such as real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing, phylogenetics, bioinformatics, tissue culture, agro-infiltration, and microscopy.

Requirements:
A Bachelor of Agriculture is required; candidates with hands-on experience in research laboratory work such as nucleic acid isolation, reverse transcription, PCR and gene cloning are preferred but not a must. Also important are communication skills, a positive attitude in teamwork and high standard work ethics.
