Position Summary:

This recruitment will be used to create a part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant position for the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences under the direction of Dr. Serkan Ates at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position includes the maintenance and construction of fences for pastures for the research of Dr. Serkan Ates.

Position Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance and construction of pastures for Dr. Serkan Ates. Typical duties include fence repair and building, assist with construction, grounds maintenance, tractor work, and many other maintenance functions.

They will perform duties in support of research projects investigating grazing systems and forage production.

Additional Required Qualifications:

· Applicant MUST be currently enrolled as a student at Oregon State University and/or dual enrolled with Linn Benton Community College.

· This position requires the use of a university vehicle to transport supplies and machinery.

· Undergrads must be registered a minimum of 6 credit hours during the academic year per term.

· International students must be registered a minimum of 12 credit hours during the academic year per term.

· Graduate Students (self funded) must be registered a minimum of 3 credit hours during the academic year per term.

· This position may be designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; if so, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

· This position may require driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; if so, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications:

· Successful candidates will have some sort of past experience that demonstrates the ability to work as a team.

· Experience using both hand tools and mechanical applications.

· Working Conditions / Work Schedule

· This is an off campus facility, employee must have reliable transportation and be able to drive a university vehicle.

· Employee will be exposed to inclement weather conditions.

· Employee will need to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds.

· Employee will be required to bend, kneel, and stoop
