Position Summary

A Research Associate (Postdoctoral Research) position is available in the Crandall Laboratory (http://srcrandall.wixsite.com/research) at Michigan State University. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to combine electrophysiological and optogenetics methods to investigate the organization as well as the function of neural circuits in the mammalian forebrain. Our lab applies these approaches in both acute brain slices and awake, behaving animals. We are particularly interested in understanding the dynamic nature and mechanisms underlying layer six corticothalamic circuit activity. Recent publications include Cell Reports 2017, 21:3065; Neuron 2015, 86:768; Neuron 2013, 78:895; J. Neuroscience 2010, 30:15419.

The Crandall Lab is in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University (https://physiology.natsci.msu.edu/), located in East Lansing, Michigan. Our group is also part of the Neuroscience Program (https://neuroscience.natsci.msu.edu/), which is a multidisciplinary program consisting of approximately 60 faculty who seek fundamental knowledge about the brain and nervous system.
