College Profile:
The College of Arts and Sciences(CAS) houses twelve departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature &Linguistics and Arabic Languages, History, Sociology, Social Work,International Affairs, Mass Communication, Psychology, Policy, Planning &Development, Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Material Science, Sports Science, and Human Nutrition. The College also houses five Master Programs, which are in Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Gulf Studies, Material Science and Arabic Language. In Fall 2013, CAS launched a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers. Also it has recently established three research centers namely Center for Social Science and Humanities, Center for Sustainable Development, and Gulf Studies Center. The College started the PhD in Gulf Studies, a Master in Applied Statistics, and a Master in Public Health in Fall 2015.
It is worth mentioning that as members of QU, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas. Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is major source of research funding, with individual project funding limit exceeding 1 million/project (5million exceptional projects) along with student research funding programs. As the national and largest University in the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QNRF awards, with many research- active faculty members able to win multiple grants.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Department of Social Sciences, Social Work Program, at Qatar University, Doha, invites applications for a full time position at the level of teaching assistant for Social Work. The position is three years renewable.
Candidates should be committed to excellence and must have high work ethics and good attitude towards work. Candidates must have at least Master’s degree in Social Work with strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have a track record of excellent publication and possess the potential and willingness to collaborate with faculty within and across departmental divisions. Priority will be given to candidates who are fluent in both Arabic and English.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Social Work Program within the Department of Social Sciences Department, College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University, invites applications for the position of teaching assistant for Social Work.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
1. Work with the director of field education to assign students to field education according to their interest and needs of agency2. Maintain field records for students, agencies and field instructors
3. Assess the needs of the agencies and field instructors
4. Schedule and maintain a weekly visits to agencies and field instructors
5. Collect information and data from agencies, field instructors and other sources as requested by the director of field education
6. Ensure smooth and frequent communication between integrative seminar instructor, field instructors and director of field education
7. Manage students’ database and monitor each student’ placement and grades
8. Review and update the training manual and field education syllabi in coordination with the director of field education.
Qualifications
Competencies:1. Strong knowledge in Social Work and related-disciplines at the undergraduate level.
2. Experience as a teaching assistant for Social Work.
3. Strong knowledge in research methods for the social sciences.
4. Proven proficiency in English and Arabic languages.
Qualifications:
1.The candidate should hold at least a Master’s degree or above in Social Work from an internationally recognized university.
2.Experience as a teaching assistant in Social Work.
3.Proven competency and research involvement.
4.Fluency in English and Arabic.
