Amgen is seeking a Finance Manager who will play a key role in the R&D Financial Planning & Analysis

(FP&A) organization located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This Manager reports to the Finance Director overseeing R&D Consolidation.

The Finance Manager will support the financial, analytical, budget and month end support for multiple R&D organizations. This Manager will work with the R&D organization and interact cross-functionally within and outside of Finance.

Key Responsibilities Of This Role Include

  • Financial planning and analysis of headcount and operating expenses, supporting the quarterly forecast, annual budgeting, long range plan and monthly close processes for the Global Regulatory Affairs & Safety (GRAAS), Commercialization and R&D Compliance (CRDC) and Therapeutic Area (TA) organizations as well as the planning for R&D recoveries
  • Provide critical financial insights into new and continuous operational improvement opportunities
  • Supporting finance leadership and functional teams with ad hoc requests and special projects
  • Providing direction to clients on key corporate financial policies such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies to ensure proper GAAP treatment of functional expenses

  • Basic Qualifications

    Doctorate degree

    OR

    Master’s degree AND 2 years of Finance experience

    OR

    Bachelor’s degree AND 4 years of Finance experience

    OR

    Associate’s degree AND 10 years of Finance experience

    OR

    High school diploma / GED AND 12 years of Finance experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 4 + years of corporate level experience with 2 + years of progressive finance / accounting experience
    • Relevant functional financial planning experience
    • Knowledge of key finance systems (such as SAP, MS Office, Hyperion planning and reporting systems)
    • Excellent Excel / PowerPoint skills
    • Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
    • Proven ability to work effectively in in ambiguous situations and team environment
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under time
    • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence personnel across functions and levels
    • Ability to think strategically
    • MBA and/or CPA
    • Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience
