Title: Economist
Location: Columbia, MO
Summary: The primary responsibility for this Economist position will be the research, analysis and production of detailed agricultural markets, with a particular focus on supply and demand fundamentals and prices. Industry focus will be economic research of grains, oilseeds, cotton, and/or farm profitability.
Roles And Responsibilities
This Economist will be responsible for monitoring, forecasting, and writing on the agricultural outlook for their assigned industry. This analyst will also assist senior staff in larger consulting projects and will be responsible for delivery of monthly and quarterly client data projects.
Required Education
Minimum requirement of BA/BS in Agriculture Economics or Economics.
This Position RequiresRequired Experience:- Firm understanding of economic markets and microeconomic theory
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn deeper statistical analysis, econometric modeling, and applied economic research
- Experience with Microsoft Excel necessary
- Experience with a statistical computer program such as SAS or EVIEWS is highly desirable
- Attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral communication and writing skills
- Self starter with the ability to initiate and complete research projects
