The American University of Sharjah Performing Arts Program, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time appointment in Choral Conducting to begin in Fall 2020. This faculty member will join a small but growing program, which includes music and theatre, and has an active production schedule. Responsibilities include: conducting the AUS mixed choral ensemble, and two other classes per semester; serving the general education program in music for undergraduate students; carrying out scholarly and creative activities; and engaging in service-related activities. Other teaching responsibilities will be assigned based on background and departmental needs. Requirements: established reputation as a performer through performance and/or publication; record of successful teaching at the university level; and a demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The university provides on-campus faculty housing. An earned doctorate (DMA, PhD or equivalent) in music/choral conducting/music education from an accredited institution is required, with preference given to those who hold at least one degree from a North American institution of higher education.
