Overview
Sabancı Business School, AACSB accredited top business school in Turkey, is seeking a dynamic, innovative, practice friendly and qualified scholar for a full-time faculty position at the level of Associate/Full Professor to commence on the 2021-2022 academic year. The candidate will coordinate and grow the newly started Action Research PhD Program.
The Action Research PhD Program was launched in 2020 at Sabancı University, aiming to become a pioneer in its field. Founded under the ARAMA Chair of Sabancı University, the program is the first of its kind to offer Action Research education on the doctoral level and the best example to illustrate the entrepreneur and innovative soul of Sabancı University, which has sustained its position for eight years in a row in the top three of Turkey’s Entrepreneurial and Innovative Universities Index.
The program is unique for being a global start up and having a global scale right from its establishment and has an extensive international network and hosts globally renowned, pioneer names among its faculty including the chief editors of international journals on Action Research.
Similar to Sabancı University, the Action Research PhD Program is designed as an action research project. The program is closer to an industrial PhD program rather than a DBA or an Executive PhD and is more targeted at seasoned professionals who might be interested in harvesting their practical experience. It is imperative that the students engage in a ''live'' transformation project within the scope of their PhD course.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to advance and accelerate action-oriented research, forge fruitful relationships with industry, facilitate collaboration across different faculties of the university and within the Business School as well as developing networks nationally and internationally.
Teaching:
Action Research Program aims at mid-career professionals who will co-produce relevant and useful knowledge pertaining to different forms of transformation of organizations, industries and networks. Being a part of the developing team of this unique program, the candidate will be playing an active role in student cultivation and curriculum development. The candidate will be teaching courses during the academic year and engaging students in developing and supporting the knowledge generating processes of Action Research projects to collectively build strong academic and practice basis.
Research:
The candidate will be taking part in the success of the Action Research program and Sabancı University’s role in the Action Research networks, the related knowledge and action fields. S/he will be expected to apply for funded projects and support the production of academic knowledge. Contributing to our mission of “creating and developing together”, the candidate will be developing collaborations with the faculty members in other departments of Sabancı University as well as with the international Action Research networks. S/he will be promoting action research as a mode of inquiry in all disciplines and faculties.
Service:
Program aims to provide corporations, state institutions, local administrations, and civil society with an academic program that would enable them to produce the knowledge necessary for transformational management. The candidate will be serving as a bridge between the business community and the university. He/she will supervise PhD thesis and transformation projects, mentoring students and seek to develop new initiatives to complement the program.
Qualifications
1. Possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Action Research, Management or a related discipline
2. Have a track record of excellence in research and teaching in the field of Action Research
3. Have a distinguished record of scholarship in Action Research and beyond
4. Have a demonstrable Action Research project experience
5. Have international experience in higher education
6. Possess an entrepreneurial and ‘can do’ attitude.
