We are working with one of our best clients to find an innovative and talented Industrial Engineer to add to their team. Our client is a growing manufacturing company supplying engineered products worldwide to the automotive industry. They are a customer focused organization driven to provide high quality products to the marketplace, as well as providing a work environment where their employees are respected, valued and empowered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish, verify, and improve process standards through time and motion studies, lean manufacturing techniques, VA/VE activities, and the Continuous Improvement Committee
  • Perform time and observation studies, evaluating manufacturing equipment, processes/flow, employee functionalities within the manufacturing process.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods that are applied and activities that take place in manufacturing and services
  • Evaluate process to manufacture parts or products with maximum efficiency
  • Assist in the development of new Racking Systems for new parts/products as required
  • Identify areas to reduce waste and improve cycle times
  • Facilitate work instruction database, Coordinate Product Data Management activities, including part masters, bills-of-materials, routings, change management, packaging files, and ICN’s.
  • Coordinate bluebook management, including operator instructions, packaging instructions, training matrices, etc.
  • Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient
  • Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs
  • Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning in order to ensure that products meet quality standards
  • Confer with internal product, design, quality and production teams regarding product specifications, production personnel about manufacturing capabilities

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering or Business Management related field required
  • 2 or more years of experience in Industrial/Lean Manufacturing Engineering
  • Understanding of Lean Fundamentals: 5S, Six Sigma Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, 8-D, GD&T and problem solving skills required
  • Six Sigma (Greenbelt / Black belt) preferred
  • Multi-Lingual – preferred
  • Must be willing to do 20% day travel to Grand Rapids and Western Michigan area
